2009 Updates

So it's been a long time since I've updated my blog, so I decided to try and update it if I can remember how.... :)

We had our baby girl Kherington Clair Rampton on March 7th 2009, she weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and was 19 inches long. She was delivered in our home in Herriman, not by choice, here's the story....

It was about 2 am on 3/7/09 when I got up to go to the bathroom, nothing truly unusual about that cause I would get up about that time every night to go. I then awoke again at 4 am and again went to the bathroom but this time felt the urge to have a bowel momentment, which was unusual for me but still I thought nothing of it. I went to lie back in bed but just couldn't get comfortable, so I got up and thought I would read a book to calm me back to sleep. I started to have uncomfortable cramps which I just associated to having a stomach ache, but I wasn't able to concentrate on my reading so I decided to go back to bed. At this point I lay down and still can't get comfortable and notice my "stomach ache" was coming in waves and I was starting to breath heavier. That woke Cody up which then he said you're probably in labor and started to time my contractions. They were about a min apart but only 30-40 secs strong. So he called the hospital and they said to get there now! We were supposed to deliver at LDS Hospital which is about a 45 min drive from Herriman. So I called my mom and told her that we were going to be leaving our house in about 20 mins to bring the girls Kasia and Brooklyn to her.

So Cody wakes up Kasia cause of her diabetes to feed her before we leave. While she eats he continues to run around the house packing up stuff for the girls to stay at grandmas and packing up stuff for the hospital all the while running back to our bathroom to check on me. I on the other hand am starting to hurt and can't seem to get off the toilet. I screamed to him several times that the pain is getting worse and he would run back to check on me. One time he asked "are you going to be ok for a minute? I still have to get us packed up and ready to go." To which I replied "yes I'll be ok" My contractions were right on top of each other and when Cody came back to get me to get in the car I just told him "were not going to make it, you need to call 911!" So he makes the call to 911 but has to go to the front room to hear the operator over my moans. While he's on the phone I stood up and 'goosh' my water broke, one push and one scream later I had delivered her head. Cody came running into the bathroom and tells the 911 operator that we are having the baby and he put her on speaker. He didn't realize at that moment and from the angle he was that I had already delivered her head. I was standing there holding her head so she wouldn't fall as he quickly grabbed some towels and then there she was. I was scared cause she was so blue and the 911 operator told Cody not to cut the umbilical cord but to find something to tie it off with it. He handed her to me so I could hold her and keep her warm while he ran off to find some string. She was breathing but it was very shallow and she didn't really make any noise once I was holding here.

So the paramedics arrived and starting doing all the stuff they do with vitals and oxygen and whatever else. They let Cody cut the cord and then we started to walk out to the front room where they had the stretcher. I passed Kasia's room where I saw a bright eyed 23 month old and a very surprised 8 year old. The look on their faces was priceless. They followed us out to the stretcher where I introduced them to their new little sister.

So we were off to the hospital, the nearest hospital to our house was Jordan Valley Hospital in South Jordan. Cody met me there afterward as he had to wait for my mom to get to our house to watch the girls before he could leave. There I delivered the placenta and Kherington was weighed and poked and prodded.

We knew this would be a great story to tell and one that we would probably tell for the rest of our lives as I'm sure she'll want to hear about it someday.

Vegas 2008

We decided to hit the road right after Halloween and headed for Vegas. It was the quickest Vegas trip I've ever taken but a much needed get away and well worth the 6 hour drive there cause we all really enjoyed it. Here's a picture of all of us at The Luxor where we stayed. Kasia is a huge anything egyptian fan at the moment so we thought it would be really neat for her if we stayed there. It was actually an awesome hotel. It's in the shape of a pyramid and to get to your room you had to take an inclinator (not an elevator) it was the weirdest feeling cause you could tell you weren't going straight up and down.

We went to the Shark Reef exhibit at Mandalay Bay. It was cool to watch the girls faces when checking out all the sea life. We got to touch the sting rays and watch two sea turtles dance in the water.

All in all, we had a great time just getting away and spending some quality time with the girls. We took over 300 pictures of all the fun stuff we got to see and do. We also went to see the Sirens of TI (the free outdoor show put on by Treasure Island) and M&M world. We look forward to more getaway vacations like this one but maybe just not as rushed. We only got to stay for one night but like I said, it was worth it!!

Halloween 2008

I know these pics are a little late but I had to get them up eventually. Halloween was really fun this year because Brooklyn was old enough to enjoy it more than she did last year. She caught on to the concept of trick-or-treating for candy really fast. She would get her candy and speed on to the next spot. If given a choice she would always grab suckers to put in her bag. She's a silly girl. She was a purple butterfly this year and she was just adorable.

Kasia wanted to be something scary this year, so she choose to be a corpse bride or black rose bride as the package read. She wanted her face painted and everything. This pic is after she had already been to her school parade and rubbed her face a little bit, she said it itched pretty bad. She managed to keep most of the paint on her face for the majority of the day though. We had a lot of places to visit so she wanted to keep the full effect all day long. This was taken when we stopped to visit my mom and she just had to make a scary face pose. :) She had fun!

This is a picture of all of us minus daddy of course. I was a "Bun in the Oven" (hehe) and he was "The Bun Maker". Somehow I never managed to actually get a picture of Cody in costume, oh well I guess. He had an apron that stated his title and a huge chef's hat to go with it. It made for fun conversation when we weren't together. When we were around each other we got a lot of people saying "Oh I get it now". Not so funny when you have to explain your costume. We went to a ward party and I had a bunch of kids come up and ask me what I was :) I got everything from "are you an astronaut?" to "I know, you're a washer, right?" I got a kick out of it when I would tell them "No, I'm a bun in the oven" They always looked confused, so I just told them to go ask their parents...LOL. We had a good time though.

Today I got my blog going, thanks to my friend Candace for sharing this with me and to my husband Cody for helping me set it up. I will try to add more in the near future as soon as I get more comfortable with posts and such.
